Each day we're getting closer to my favorite sport - college football, which begins on Thursday night. Most college football enthusiasts will have their eyes on South Carolina at Vanderbilt - as will I.

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs dropped a tough 6-2 decision to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees today. Coupled with a 5-4 Pawtucket win over Charlotte, the IronPigs are again 1/2 behind in the Wild Card standings behind...you guessed it - Pawtucket. The IronPigs continue to host the Yankees on Monday. It'll be Tom Cochran vs. Adam Warren. Pawtucket travels to Gwinnett.
Also, the Phillies swept the Nationals today, 4-0. Yes, you read that correctly. Cliff Lee earns the win. How about that! The Phillies will host the Mets on Tuesday.
The Little League World Series concluded today with the Championship Game and the Consolation Game. Petaluma (CA) beat Panama, 12-4, in the Consolation game. Japan won the Championship game with a 12-2 victory over Goodlettsville (TN).
The #9 Lady Lady Field Hockey team defeated the #8 ranked Virginia Cavaliers on Sunday afternoon, 3-2, to improved to 2-0 on the season.
After a tough loss to #1 ranked Stanford on Friday night, the Lady Lions Soccer team defeated Central Michigan today, 5-0, to improve their season record to 3-1.
